In no way shape or form am I trying to disrespect any team on this post just sharing some of my observations.

Around 10 years or so, the Region D champion was in all honesty the state champion in D1 or D2. The number of titles the LPD put up in the 90's is unreal. Today winning the Region D is a great accomplishment but it is not an automatic State Title by any stretch. Regardless of who wins Saturday's Region D title game between CW and PV they will be underdogs to the defending state champions. Giles is huge but Giles is also Giles. Slow, and strong. Honestly, I dont think there is anyway CW could beat Giles. Again, no offense to CW but they do not match up well with Giles at all. PV would be a underdog in the game but would have a much better chance of winning. Why? Speed, coaching, and memory. Giles got romped the last time they played PV and have never slowed down the spread, ever. In last years D2 State Title game MP ran wild on Giles, if not for a missed extra point they could've went back to back. Now lets say PV/CW goes to state again underdogs. Gretna, more speed than either team and as much big game experience. Essex has a RB that is a D1 prospect, and we all know how good one back can be. From Babb, Terrell, and Pierman back to our great backs of Jones and Clark. It's going to be an uphill battle for the LPD in the coming weeks, and this doesn't even begin to touch on the enrollment factor that our schools face.

In D1 Norton is going to state 13-0 riding high. That is going to happen. When they get there they will see a familar foe to the LPD William Campbell. They have the speed and strength to match up with the Raiders. So far this year WC has defeated both Giles and Gretna both ranked 1 and 2 for most of the season at the D2 level. Can the LPD win state again? Sure, but it's going to be tough. They've got more students, as much talent, and are playing a whole lot closer to home.

I do know this regardless of who wins Saturday I'll be somewhere watching a half state game to root on the LPD.
